Altered relationships and odd leftover spaces

New plazas, new pedestrian precincts, 200 miles of new cycle paths, now five blocks of Broadway closed to cars: under the guidance of the city’s transportation commissioner, Janette Sadik-Khan, New York City is altering the relationship between pedestrians and cars. It’s yielding ‘odd leftover spaces’ and a new intimacy between the citizenry and their city.
