In the October 2010 issue of National Geographic there are three fantastic articles (here, here and here) about the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The articles provide far greater depth than most news reports on the spill’s effects on the sea, wildlife and coastal lands. There are also a number of links to information about other oil spills. The articles will be of general interest to all who care about environmental issues, but may be of greatest relevance to some of our Geography undergraduates (e.g. those taking GY124, where the Shell-to-Sea issue, another oil related problem, is part of the module programme).
