A cool scientific collaborations map

Many academics / scientists look beyond their campus to find partners, teams, collaborators. Such relationships can tell us something about the geographies that emerge from and indeed produce third level education. How would all those links stretching from one place to another look if they were mapped? Well, see below:

Kudos to Olivier H. Beauchesne from Science-Metrix, a bibliometric consulting firm, who used citation networks of authors and their affiliations to create the above map and various others, which can be seen here.
